Kyle gets his beloved bike
Grandma Joan has a big birthday party
It was fun, we decided because she didn't want a big birthday party surprise we would have a birthday funday and surprise her with little surprises along the way.
We took her to the spa then to lunch and a movie then home for a fun dinner and family time.
Sharon had a balloon lady come and decorate her whole house with balloons, she was very surprised. Then we made an album for her of all of us and we each wrote her a little letter. It was a fun day and I hope she enjoyed it the way she wanted to.
Disney Cruise to the Caribbean April 2009
For spring break this year we decided to go on a disney cruise, we got a great price and for my 40th birthday we decided it would be fun!
The kids were totally jazzed, we invited vickie and diane and thought after the cruise we would spend a couple days at epcot.
We took off out of port canaveral and after a few days on the ship we were in St Maarten, then off to St thomas/St john and finally disneys private island.
One night we eat at this exclusive resaurant on board the ship called Paolos. It was some of the best food we had ever experienced. They gave us what ever we wanted and brought a couple of other choices to try as well. Yum Yum.
The shows were amazing. Every night disney style broadway shows. We were truley spoiled! Megan met a bunch of friends for life and was out every night with them until midnight. Kyle hung out in the teen lounge and hung out until 2 am some times. They had to come back to reality when we got off the boat. curfew, dark! Abigail loved seeing the characters everyday! We all had a fun time.
Willy Wonka birthday Megan 12 years, Abigail 7 old 2009
Well, it was decided Megan wanted a willy wonka and the chocolate factory birthday party. She had been looking on face book and saw that Sadie Williams had had one and it look totally fun. We convinced Abby to have the same theme on the same day so that it would be easier to plan. They both invited a ton of friends, including Megans's newly broken up first "boyfriend", Tyler Poulsen. Abby invited Alex Post, the boy she says we wants to marry. We had decorated the whole house and both back an front yard. We had a walkway up to our house, a contract that we had the kids sign. We had lickable wall paper, a full candy store and a chocolate fountain. We had an oompa loompa food table with lots of mini foods and mini drinks. We had games... donut on a string, fizzy lifting burping contest, pudding eating contest, bubble blowing contest, mento rocket race, a cotton candy machine and bubble blowing everywhere. We hand made the cake for Abby to look like a wonka land and Megan had red velvet cupcakes. They were so yummy! It was a fantastically fun day.
Deanna Kratz - 20+ years later - January 2009
One day I was looking on facebook and low and behold I found our old friend Deanna! We got in touch and set a date for dinner and some fun. Her husband came too and we went out for a fun night of dinner in Los Gatos and bowling. We talked about old times and what had been happening in our lives since then. It was a great night, and so much fun reconnecting.
kyle breaks his arm January 2009
Ok, as if it isn't enough to have heart surgery, Kyle decides to break his arm.
He had been itching to go on his bike, all of his friends were riding theirs so he had been counting the days. When the day came that the doctor finally released him to his regular activity he was out the door. He went to Leigh high school to cruise around with his friends. What he didn't take into account was that his friends hadn't had a 2 month break of no bike riding. So when his friends decided to go on jump off the steps, he thought it looked fun too. Wow, he didn't know what happened all of a sudden he was lying there and he didn't want to move. He looked over at his arm and yelled out to his friend Jaden. I think I broke my arm. Yep he sure did it was not pretty. Lucky for him the baseball coach and team was practicing there and saw him fall and ran over to help him. He kindly asked them not to touch him and to call his mom. That was a phone call 6 weeks after heart surgery that I didn't want to get. "Hi this is the coach from leigh high school and your son has had an accident. He has broken his arm and wants you to come and get him. I said, my son, Kyle, you know he just had heart surgery! Yes maam, he told us. Do you know he was just released from the doctors care today an hour ago. I am sorry, I will keep the gate open for you so you can drive on to the campus in the back, Thanks I will be right there. ScREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,, dance around in a circle, gather the girls and call Terry. I was on my way speeding down harwood, there Kyle was laying still in the position that he fell in chest to the cement arms out legs spread apart. Kind of like the dead man chalk marks. I went to him and the coach helped me to get him up as he held his arm from not falling. It was gross, disgusting but even so I pulled it together and drove, fast as I could to Kaiser. They took us right in and in moments Terry was there too. They took many xrays and finally it was determined that they could only do surgery to repair it but it would have to be done the next morning early. Surgery again! That was funny and heart wrenching at the same time. He couldn't take any pain meds in the morning because he had to have an empty stomach, unfortuately for him it wasn't until 2pm when they finally did the surgery.
All went well and they sent us up to a regualr room to spend the night for observations since he just had heart surgery. The guy next to us was a diabled man and kept me and him up for most of the night. Yelling, Nurse, the tape is over, and nurse my feet are itchy, nurse, nurse, nurse. Nurse I can't reach my applesauce. He was probably 400 lbs. It was no nice to get back home again. The ordeal for the most part was finally over. 2 screws and a plate placed in his wrist and forearm. Look out metal detectors.
